I am a Black British sculptor based in Hampshire for over 25 years. My early experiences in London’s art scene sparked a lifelong passion for sculpture and urban art, particularly an affinity with wood, which contrasts with my upbringing in London’s concrete jungle.
My previous work has explored nature, the human body, and themes of migration. My current research examines how the historical African diaspora have used their hair to harness its communicative potential highlighting the significance in their individual journeys.
Within my work I create fluid and organic shapes that occupy space to challenge historical narratives and stimulate new conversations. I use reclaimed hardwoods from local, European, and African sources this reflects my heritage and commitment to environmental sustainability.
